Irish International Trading Corporation (Cork) PLC, established 1920, is one of Ireland’s leading wholesalers of Hardware, Steel, Wire, Salt and Plumbing materials & bathrooms.
IITC purchased premises at Rocksavage / Anglesea Street and in subsequent years additional adjoining properties. Supplying mostly into the Agricultural sector, the company expanded into general hardware and plumbing materials.
The company further expanded with the purchase of the “Marsh’s Yard” premises in Copley Street where a steel and wire business was operated.
ITC first ventures into sanitary sales begin with the ambition to become a leading bathroom supplier in Cork..
Being a major wholesaler in the south with a strong loyal customer base, IITC opened a depot in Ballymount, Dublin to service the mid-lands and northern parts of the country.
IITC relocated from Rocksavage & Copley Street to a purpose built premises on Tramore Road, Cork where our head offices and departments are based on a 7 acre site.
IITC purchased Hibernian Salt at Tivoli Industrial Estate, Cork supplying salt to various industries.
IITC relocated from Ballymount Road in Dublin to a purpose built site in Naas Co Kildare.
IITC celebrate 100 years in business, however just like the founding members who found themselves challenged by the political landscape in the 1920’s we found a new global challenge with the Covid 19 pandemic.
IITC was established in 1920 and after 100 years of trading is now one of Ireland’s leading distributors of Hardware, Wire, Steel, Salt, Plumbing materials and bathroom supplies.
In it’s early days in the 1920’s IITC was an import and export company operating from a premises in the South Mall in Cork trading in such items as slag, coal, cement, tiles, yarn, butter boxes and egg cases.
In 1935 IITC moved to a new site at Rocksavage in Cork. During the subsequent decades the business expanded into supplying hardware and plumbing goods primarily to the Agricultural sector and focused solely on importing and distributing in Ireland.
Further expansion followed in the 1960’s when a steel and wire distribution business was established at Copley street Cork.
Having established itself as a significant wholesaler in the South with a strong loyal customer base, IITC opened a distribution centre in Dublin in 1990 to service the Midlands, the West and Northern parts of the country.
In 2002 IITC relocated from Rocksavage & Copley Street to a purpose built facility at Tramore road, Cork where our head offices and main distribution centre are located on a seven acre site.
Further expansion followed with the acquisitions of Hibernian Salt in 2004 and Irish Salt Company in 2017 firmly establishing IITC as one of the leading salt distributors in Ireland.
In 2018 IITC opened a new distribution centre in Naas, County Kildare comprising 90,000 square feet of warehousing on a 7 acre site. This facility will cater for IITC’s growing business in Leinster, the Midlands, the West and the North.
